. 8 Answers SOURCE: There is probably a bad solder joint or loose wire inside of the sub box. If you can, unplug the sub, take the screws out and remove the back to inspect the circuit board. A clean solder joint is pointed and shiny, with the solder evenly distributed in the hole. Also check to see if any plugs are loose. Plug in the audio input and then the power, but be very carefull not to touch anything inside the box while the cord is plugged in!! Play some bass at moderate volume so there is pretty constant sound.
Now, take a screwdriver with an insulated handle and gently tap around on the connectors and circuit board. Tap a little harder if nothing happens, also tap in different areas to try to force the sound to cut out. You can try to locate where the bad connection may be by tapping lightly and zeroing in on the location. When and if you find the problem, you will need to solder the connection with a soldering iron. If you don't have a friend to help, try a local electronics store. Posted on Jul 13, 2007.
